Terwijl ik deze zomer mijn eigen reddingsplan uitvoerde, zaten de 2 groepen die de clipper "City of Adelaide" wilden behoeden voor sloop ook niet stil. De Britse SCARF (Sunderland City of Adelaide Recovery Foundation) wou het schip in Sunderland (en het VK) hebben, en een Australische groepering denkt het schip naar Port Adelaide te brengen voor conservatie en permanente tentoonstelling. En blijkbaar hebben deze laatsten het beste projekt naar voor geschoven:
"Fiona Hyslop, Minister for Culture and External Affairs , today (28th August) announced the decision which may finally secure the future of the SV City of Adelaide and establish new cultural links with Australia .
The Minister has named the Australian Group, The Clipper Ship, City of Adelaide , as the preferred bidder to move the internationally important vessel, also known as The Carrick, which has lain on a slipway in Irvine for over a decade."
